More than just a visual arrangement, zine one is an active and ongoing investigation into our environment.

This Zine, directed by Chuck XXV & Maya Boland is inspired by a shared interest in the functional aesthetics of public life and an appreciation of the humble infrastructures in place that usually go unnoticed.

It’s creation has consisted of weekly discussions that attempt to unpick why it is we gravitate towards the ordinary.

Our reasons have been both similar and different. What we find most moving is made up of the prisms of our individual perspectives.

The themes that we have discussed include but are not limited to:

+Acknowledgment of constant change
+Utility and the sublime
+Communication utilizing one’s environment
+Home, nostalgia and connection

It’s unpicking these creative choices, and understanding the instinct to put a camera between ourselves and this functional side of our environment.
